Cauliflower masala

This dish tastes well with rice as well as with chapathi and roti. I prepare this dish very often, as my hubby loves it a lot. It's a veggy dish but it tastes more like a nonveg dish. So you can prepare and fool your children.....hahahha....as they hate to have vegetables.

To serve 2, you will need the following:-

Cauliflower - 1 small sized, cleaned, chopped and blanched.
Onion - 1 medium sized, sliced
Tomato - 1 small sized, sliced
Ginger garlic paste - 1-1/2 tsp
Fennel seeds - 1/2 tsp
Chilly powder - 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Tumeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Sambhar powder or Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil - 2 tbsp

Method

Heat oil in a kadai and put fennel seeds and fry for few seconds. Now add onions and saute till they turn pink in colour. Add ginger garlic paste and again saute for a minute.

Throw in the tomoto and cook till the tomato turns soft.

Add red chilly powder, tumeric powder, coriander powder, sambhar powder or garam masala powder and salt. With a splash of water mix it well under low flame. You can add sambhar powder or garam masala powder to this recipe. (Adding garam masala is normal and tastes good, if you add sambhar powder it tastes very different and tasty too. Try making this recipe with sambhar powder one day and with garam masala powder some other time).

Now sprinkle the chopped coriander leaves and mix well.

Now add blanched cauliflower and mix well. Add 1/2 cup of water and cook the cauliflower under medium low flame with lid on. Instead of water you can also use vegetable stock if you have, or if you are preparing this dish for chapathi or roti then you can use 1/2 cup of thick coconut milk.

Cook till the cauliflower turns soft and serve hot with rice and dal or with roti and chapathi.
