Roti

Roti is my all time favourite.....the roti recipe given below is good for picnics,as it stays soft for a very long time. Rotis can be prepared in different shapes - round, triangle ones and square roti...for beginners the shape varies from african continent to australian continent.:-) but the taste remains the same....

For preparing 10 rotis you will need:-

Chapathi (wheat) flour - 2 cups (heaped)
Salt - 1/2 tsp
Sugar - 1/2 tsp
Cooking oil - 2 tsp
Water - to make dough

Method

Mix wheat flour, salt, sugar, cooking oil in a bowl. Add water little by little and make a medium soft dough.

Keep the dough covered for 30 minutes.

Spread the dough after dusting some flour, and apply oil on it and sprinkle some plain flour on it.

Now roll it from one side.

And cut the roll into one and half inch pieces.

And press each piece from sides to get pedas. Roll the pedas into rotis (dust flour in between) and cook it on a tawa.
(Cooking roti on tawa : Maintain medium high flame and heat a tawa, put the rolled roti and wait for 10 seconds and turn it. Now wait for small bubbles to pop, then turn it and apply few drops of cooking oil on the roti and turn it and again apply few drops of oil on the other side of the roti and press nicely using a spatula and when you see small black spots on both sides of the roti then take it off the tawa.)

Hope its a perfect round :-p

Roti ready....
