Mutton Masala

This is my favourite mutton masala recipe. You can have this with chapathi, roti, idli, dosa or even with rice. Here goes the recipe....

You will need:-

Mutton - 250 grams
Onion - 1 big (chopped)
Green chillies - 4 (slit)
Tomato - 1 medium sized (diced)
Tomato paaste - 1 tbsp
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
Tumeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Coriander powder - 1 tbsp
Chilly powder - 1 tsp
Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp
Curd - 2 tbsp
Coriander leaves - 4 tbsp (chopped)
Salt to taste
Cooking oil - 3 tbsp

Method

Heat oil in a pressure cooker/kadai and saute the onions till golden colour.

Now add green chillies and ginger garlic paste. And fry for a minute or so. Then add diced tomatoes and cook till the tomatoes turn pulpy. Add tomato paste (tomato paste gives nice red colour to the dish) and mix for half a minute.

Reduce the flame and put salt, tumeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder and splash some water to reduce the risk of masala powders getting burnt.

Throw in the cleaned mutton pieces (medium sized cubes recommended), and mix well.

Add curd and 3 tbsp of chopped coriander leaves and mix it well. cook for five minutes under medium low flame, then add 1 cup of water and pressure cook for 10-15 minutes.

Yummy yummy mutton masala ready......serve hot with chopped coriander on top....
