Ok...For making a medium bowl full of gravy,
You will need:-
Tomatoes - 3, small sized.
Onion - 1, medium sized, chopped
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
Grated coconut - 1/4 cup
Dalia - 1 tsp (a.k.a. pottu kadala)
Red chilly powder - 1 tsp, heaped
Tumeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Fennel seeds - 2 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Cinnamon - a small stick
Curry leaves - few
Coriander leaves - few, chopped
Dry red chilli - 1, cut into 4 pieces
Salt to taste
Oil - 3 tbsp
Method
Heat oil in a kadai. Put mustard seeds, 1 tsp of fennel seeds and cinnamon. Let it splutter. Then add dry red chilli pieces and curry leaves. Now add onion and saute it well.
After a minute, add 1 chopped tomato and mix it well.
Now add red chilli powder, coriander powder, tumeric powder, salt and little water. And cook it with lid under medium flame for 5 minutes.
Now in a mixer put grated coconut, 1 tsp of fennel seeds, 2 tomatoes chopped, dalia and little water and make a fine paste out of it. Put this coconut and tomato paste into the kadai. Add 1 cup of water and mix it well.(adjust seasoning)
Now sprinkle coriander leaves and cook for 5-10 minutes under low flame with lid.
Tasty tomato khurma is ready.....this dish tastes nice with idlis and dosas.
