Seviyan dum

Seviyan upma, seviyan kheer etc.....are well known dishes. But i like seviyan dum. My mom in law's signature dish. I love it a lot. Very simple and very tasty. You can have it for breakfast or for dinner.

To serve 2, you will require

Lotus or Anil semiya - 1 pac
Onion - 1 medium sized, sliced
Tomato - 1 medium sized, sliced
Ginger garlic paste - 1-1/2 tsp
Green chilli - 1, slit
Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
Garam masala powder - 1/4 tsp
Tumeri powder - 1/4 tsp
Mutton masala powder - 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Chopped coriander leaves
Oil - 2 tbsp

Method

Heat oil in a kadai and saute onions till it turn transparent.

Add ginger garlic paste and green chillies and saute for a minute.

Throw in tomato pieces and saute till it turn soft.

Add red chilli powder, tumeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder and mutton masala powder and saute it.

Now add water, salt and chopped coriander leaves and mix well. (for one packet of semiya i used one and half cup of water. Read the instructions on the semiya packet and use water accordingly). Close the kadai with a lid and wait for the water to boil.

Add the semiya and mix it well and stir till it absorbs the water. After that dum it for 5-8 minutes under low flame, with lid on.

Serve it with omlete and curd.
